GAiN: Women's Health Summer Mission

WHEN

WHERE
MW

Women living in developing countries are 25 times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause. Approximately 800 women die daily due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Of these deaths, 440 occur in sub-Saharan Africa. Health education is essential to help prevent maternal deaths and ensure healthy children.

You can help teach lifesaving information to women in rural Africa by joining the GAiN® Women’s Health Summer Mission trip. In addition to health training, over the course of two weeks you will participate in the distribution of reusable feminine hygiene supplies that provide women in developing countries with freedom to go about their daily lives without fear of stigma or embarrassment.

When you participate in this trip, you will see firsthand the impact practical health knowledge and essential hygiene supplies can have on a community.

As part of the trip experience you also will learn how you can integrate ministry into your nursing future, whether in a clinical setting or in a mission hospital. You also will spend time with local Cru® staff members to share the hope of Jesus with people in the heart of Malawi.

The GAiN Women’s Health Summer Mission trip is open to female nursing students who have completed at least two semesters with clinical rotation of nursing school. Limited spots are available. We seek nine participants who demonstrate interest in maternal and child health, women’s rights, and women’s ministry.

Trip dates are June 1 – June 30. The first two weeks will consist of special training in Orlando, Florida. The remaining time will be spent in Malawi, hosting women’s health trainings and serving with local Cru staff members.
